Do you have a passion for creating beautiful spaces? Would you like to play a key role in planning and implementing design ideas within a busy hospitality group? This part time role could be ideal for you!

Quarter is a collection of luxury suites, boutique hotels, restaurants, workspaces and rental properties in the stunning Clifton area of Bristol. We are looking for a creative, commercially-driven and proactive individual join our projects team.

A creative flair for design is crucial in this role and we’re looking for someone who can confidently present their ideas (if you love a good moodboard, this is the role for you!). In addition to leading the design initiative for our unique range of venues, you will be a key player when it comes to exciting project work. Alongside this you will support and oversee our part time Design and Purchasing Assistant. Some experience with Vectorworks, Photoshop or SketchUp would be advantageous but training will be offered for those without familiarity with these programs. 

Key details for the Design and Purchasing Lead position:

Salary: £12 - £12.75 per hour (experience dependent) plus £1,500 per annum on-target bonuses

Hours: Part time, 24 hours per week. These hours will ideally be worked over 3 days, Tuesday-Thursday. We can, however, be flexible with this to suit individual requirements.

Location: Hybrid - a combination of remote and site-based work as required. Very occasional travel if needed for research purposes.

Start date: Flexible - ASAP or after notice

Key responsibilities of our Design and Purchasing Lead:

Working with support and guidance from our Head of Projects, as Design and Purchasing lead you will be responsible for the following:

  • Leading the design direction of new and current projects
  • Sourcing of both ‘day to day’ and one-off project items for our hotels, suites and workspaces
  • Completing and maintaining buying lists for new projects
  • Presenting design proposals and items you’ve sourced for sign-off by senior management
  • Supporting the Head of Projects in the shaping and controlling of project budgets
  • Line-managing the Design and Purchasing Assistant – carrying out weekly meetings to delegate tasks, helping manage their time, providing feedback on their work and encouraging professional development
  • Creating and maintaining mood boards for each venue to allow for design decisions to be made in line with the overarching identity of the product
  • Liaising with unit managers when making design or procurement decisions regarding their unit
  • Encouraging strong supplier relations to ensure that we secure the best price and a positive ongoing relationship
  • Working to KPI targets
  • Upon completion of training (if required): updating floor plans, proposing furniture layouts and producing visual renderings of your design ideas using Vectorworks, Photoshop or SketchUp software.

  • Most importantly, heaps of creativity and an eye for design
  • Excellent verbal and visual presentation skills
  • Strong time management with a proactive and organised approach to work
  • An ability to share ideas clearly
  • Confidence in using Excel and generally strong computer literacy
  • An interest in the world of hotels and hospitality would be a bonus!
