Quarter is looking for an early bird, part time, Breakfast Chef to head up our breakfast kitchen team at the Washington Guest House. This role offers 20-25 hours per week, usually worked over 5 short morning shifts each week, leaving the rest of your day free!
This role would suit someone who has good cooking skills capable of producing a full English breakfast (we all know how important a good breakfast is to start the day!). You will be our Lead Breakfast Chef in this role, so we are looking for someone who is not only confident with cooking to order during a busy service but also someone who is able to take the lead in a small kitchen team, order stock, carry out health and safety and food hygiene checks and to ensure our breakfast food offering is of the highest quality for our valued guests.
If you’re an early bird looking to have afternoons and evenings free for other commitments (be that other work, freelancing, studies or family), this may be the role for you!
You will get in and start cooking the food that has been prepped for you the day before - this could be cooking off sausages, mushrooms, bacon, hash browns and keeping them hot in preparation for the orders you will get. Breakfast service starts at 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends so you have an hour to 'prep' before guests start coming in. Eggs are prepared to order and all food is plated by you in the kitchen (no chafing dishes).
The friendly breakfast team front of house will take orders and deliver food and the Kitchen porter will wash up plates, pots and pans, so it is just the cooking that you would need to concentrate on.
Once breakfast service has finished, you'll prepare the food for the following day and clear down. Additional tasks will include ordering food and other items, fridge temperature checks and health and safety checks. You'll then get off home to enjoy the rest of your day!
You'll need to be a reliable early riser as you will be opening the kitchen in the morning and will be the first person in. You may be someone who likes routine and is happy starting early and finishing early - enabling you to focus on non-work activities for the rest of the day!
You'll also need to be confident and keep a cool head when things get busy. We do anything from 20 - 50 cooked breakfasts on a daily basis so you'll need to be able to work methodically to ensure each dish goes out perfectly!
To apply, please send your CV via the 'apply now' link. The closing date for applications is Friday 10th May 2024.
Successful applicants will be contacted by a member of the HR team initially to arrange a phone interview. If successful at that stage, you will be invited for a short trial in the kitchen for you to see how it all operates and for us to check your overall skill level.
