Quarter is a leading independent hospitality group based in Clifton, Bristol. We have a packed portfolio of businesses including four hotels, four restaurants, an Airbnb management company, Host360, and Clifton Short Lets along with Bristol's premier co-working space, Square Works. 

We are looking to expand our HR team to provide support to our growing businesses. You will be working as a Talent and HR Assistant, within a team of 4 (including you). This is a hybrid role that will see successful applicants working a blend of home and office work - the exact split will depend on whether the role is worked over 4 or 5 days, but will be agreed prior to any start. 

Key details for the Talent and HR Assistant role:

  • 30 hour per week contract - worked over 4 days or 5 days. We are flexible with the actual hours of work - but they must be within 8am - 6pm.
  • Full time hours salary of £24,128 plus £3,000 per annum bonus - pro-rated to £18,096 plus £2,250 bonus - a package of £20,346 for the 30 hour contract. 
  • Based in our office in Clifton, Bristol (close to the Clifton Triangle) and at home (hybrid).
  • Working within a team of 4 - reporting to the Talent Manager and Head of HR and Training
  • Fixed term contract for an initial term of 1 year with potential to extend beyond. 

Key duties for the Talent and HR Assistant role:

This role is two fold. We are a generalist team, so all team members have an element of 'general' HR within their roles - working towards shared goals and deadlines. For the bulk of your time, however, you will be working with the Talent Manager to ensure that our recruitment strategy is effectively carried out.

Split out, these are your main duties:

Talent - working with the Talent Manager:

  • Placing job adverts for new positions within Quarter via our Applicant Tracking System (ATS), directly on Indeed.com, via social media channels and on our internal emails. 
  • Working with unit managers and marketing teams to ensure the ads placed are as engaging as possible! 
  • Sifting applicants for advertised positions - scoring them as per guidelines and inviting applicants to phone interviews. 
  • Preparing interview paperwork for lead interviewers
  • Updating our recruitment tracker to keep a record of who has been interviewed and what stage of the recruitment pipeline they are at. 
  • Carrying out telephone and in-person interviews for allocated positions both independently and with group managers - bearing in mind key criteria for the roles in question.
  • Arranging trial shifts and final round interviews - coordinating manager and HR diaries to ensure that candidates are interviewed promptly and efficiently.
  • Keeping candidates in the loop re their progress - ensuring their recruitment experience is positive!
  • Regretting unsuccessful candidates - providing feedback where possible.
  • Contributing ideas to help further our recruitment strategy at Quarter. We are a collaborative team and regularly bounce ideas around - you'll have a voice from the get go! 

General HR:

  • Completing on-boarding paperwork (new starter contracts etc) for employed candidates.
  • Carrying out 'Right to Work' checks to ensure all new employees have the right to work. 
  • Setting up training logs 
  • Issuing uniform 
  • Maintaining confidentiality as befits the role
  • Being an excellent team player and listening ear when necessary

Who are we looking for as Talent and HR Assistant? 

You will, ideally, have some experience within the hospitality industry and will have a good understanding of the types of businesses Quarter runs. You'll have a proactive, curious nature - always looking for tasks to complete and helping ensure that HR tasks, generally, are completed by required deadlines. This is a busy department so you'll be able to work at pace and be flawlessly organised, ensuring your tasks are completed on time all the time!  You will have a good understanding of Microsoft Office - particularly with Microsoft Excel. As your role will involve regular interviews, you'll have a confident telephone manner and be able to build a rapport with people of all walks of life easily - we are a friendly company and want that to come across from the very first contact with us. 

Ultimately, you'll be a great team player, able to slot into our high-performing, busy team whilst bringing with you a sense of fun! This is an entry level position that has excellent opportunities for progression so we're looking for someone who has the right attitude above anything else!
