We put you at the centre of Bristol life.
We love Bristol and hope you do too. As a Bristol based company we believe in keeping hospitality local and our suppliers, as much as possible, are based in the local area.
Charity of the Year - Our Fundraising Efforts
Each year as a company we select a local, Bristol charity to fundraise for and support. In 2016 -2017, we supported St Peter's Hospice. In a series of events ranging from scavenger hunts to bake offs, the company had it's biggest fundraising year yet, tallying up a total of just over £1200! Quarter employees took party in the Bristol 10k in aid of the charity, others teamed up to compete in the TRY-athalon in June and some even guessed the number of sweets in a jar... All to get behind this excellent charity.
For 2017-2018, Quarter is very excited to announce its partnership with Urban Pursuit. This excellent Bristol charity works with young adults struggling in education - on the edge of suspension or exclusion - and hopes to help them re-engage with education in a positive way through extreme sports and mentoring programmes. They see incredible transformation in the kids that they work with - from improved confidence and self-belief along with quantifiable measures such as improved attendance and behaviour in school. It's a thoroughly worthy cause and, being a relatively young charity in Bristol, we're incredibly keen to help get them more exposure and support in the Bristol region.
We're already got a lot of things lined up to fund raise including a fun one to start - a line up of baby mugshots of the managers so that the staff can pay to guess who's who! We'll be doing more sports events to raise awareness and financial support and there's also plans for film nights and dance socials in the months to come! We are also looking for ways to provide a steady stream of revenue for our chosen charity, through selling items to our guests on a non profit basis, and having these incentives available all year round.

Our commitment to being green!
In 2015 Bristol was Awarded European Green Capital of the Year. We’ve joined other Bristolian organisations and businesses and started making changes for a more sustainable future. We’re aware of its importance and want to make a difference for generations to come.
We’ve worked alongside a number of award winning companies including GDS, Solarsense and Greenwoods Furniture that were all nominated for awards at last years Bristol Post Green Capital Awards.
We believe that it starts here. Our very own green committee lead the way in reducing our carbon footprint. We aim to bring awareness to both staff and guests by encouraging green practices and training staff in energy saving habits.
We have introduced a number of energy saving techniques into our business including our most recent installation of LED lighting. A complete LED changeover can reduce energy consumption by almost 90%. We have almost completed installing LED lights throughout all of our properties: significantly reducing our energy consumption in the process.
We closely monitor our energy consumption through the use of smart meters. Not only does this allow us to manage our energy usage better but it also reduces the carbon emissions that we would otherwise need for utility services.
Using water wisely
Solarsense have installed a solar thermal system for the luxury Berkeley Suites. The system consists of 60 Apricus evacuated tubes which heat water for all five suites. As well as reducing the hotels’ energy usage and bills, the system also generates a modest income from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which can be spent further improving the sustainability credentials of the hotel group.
Alongside saving on energy, we care about water usage too. Bearing this in mind we have begun to install cistern water saving devices which save between 1 and 3 litres of water every time you flush!
We encourage our guests and staff to recycle correctly with appropriate signage and facilities and use recycled paper wherever possible to further reduce waste.
As a group we are actively involved within the local community. We look to support local and independent commerce and there are a number of initiatives in which we are part of. These include Go Green & Tapwater.org
Happy & Healthy
Outside of the workplace we aim to keep staff happy and healthy playing sport in local leagues, entering team triathlons and running regular social events.
Throughout our properties we try to use only the finest, locally sourced products and ingredients. As an independent company we like to keep things local.
Travel & Transport
We have adopted our very own cycle to work scheme, encouraging all staff to travel to work sustainably. We advise guests to travel sustainably too, provide bike racks around the group and help keep our city clean!
Planning & Resilience
Our green commitments don’t stop here. In the future we aim to continue our work, looking for new ways to go green.
In our newest project, 19 Berkeley Square, we are fitting photovoltaic solar panels to provide electrical energy for all 15 suites. These don’t need direct sunlight to work so even on a cloudy day can generate electricity. These systems can save us nearly two tonnes of carbon dioxide every year!
