We are looking for a creative and friendly Bar Supervisor to join the team at The Square. While this is a part time role, it's on the high end of part time, offering 25-35 hours per week, usually worked over 3-4 shifts per week. Some bar experience is required, particularly with cocktails, but above all we're looking for a natural leader (any supervisory experience will be beneficial, but not essential) who is friendly, proactive and who'll be great with our guests and members! Who are we? The Square is Bristol's premier private members' club for the media and arts industries. Comprising a sumptuous lower deck members' cocktail bar, fine dining restaurant, events space and stunning outdoor garden space this is a venue that delivers on many fronts! As Bar Supervisor, you can expect to support our small bar team, taking great care to ensure our guests have a great experience, whether you're serving a member or a hotel guest for a quiet drink, a busy private party or wedding, or one of our many bespoke members' events.

Details of the Bar Supervisor role:

Location: The Square Club, on Berkeley Square in Clifton (BS8)

Hours: 25-35 hours per week, usually worked over 3-4 shifts per week (these hours are guaranteed on your contract - no zero-hours here!)

Typical shift timings: your usual shift timings will be evenings, starting around 4pm or 5pm, and finishing by 10:30pm on weeknight shifts, and closer to 1:30am on Friday and Saturday evening shifts. The rota-based nature of this role means that there will likely be some variation from this pattern on occasion.

Pay: £12.50 per hour plus service charge (paid monthly)

What are we looking for in our next Bar Supervisor?

• A passion for hospitality and great customer service!
• Creativity, with taste and a flair and passion for cocktails (our cocktail menu leans towards the prohibition style with a creative twist, all from fresh ingredients with seasonal menu changes - so plenty of scope to share your ideas for interesting cocktails!)
• You will ideally have experience in a supervisory position, however we are also open to experienced bartenders who are ready to take that next step towards management by taking on this supervisory role
• Confident and proactive, with excellent communication and people skills
• Organised and proactive, able to think on your feet and take initiative to problem solve on the fly!
• An engaging, charismatic and positive personality, able to get on well with our small team as well as our members and guests who have personality and are comfortable interacting with our customers
• Impeccably presented with a keen eye for detail 
• You will need to be flexible as the style of service will change throughout the week depending on the event or service type. Our team works to deliver drinks that exceed the standard expected by customers: from  wedding and private event guests, to industry ambassadors, to BBC presenters and film crew.

Key responsibilities for the Bar Manager position:

As Bar Supervisor, you will be involved in the following...

• Supervising of the Square's decadent cocktail bar, either alongside or in the absence of the Bar Manager - making sure that service levels are impeccable and the team look the part
• As we are a small team, you will mix drinks and serve customers as well as overseeing the team in doing so
• Ensuring the department meets GP targets
• Training bar staff; occasionally carrying out 1-2-1 meetings with the team
  
• Responsible for welcoming our members and their guests and maintaining the right atmosphere in our bar
