Our five strong, Accounts team is at the heart of our company – ensuring all financial processes run smoothly across our portfolio of hospitality businesses. You are, in short, the engine that keeps Quarter operating successfully, and this brand new opportunity will give the successful person the chance to learn the ropes and eventually have a say at a management level supporting the team to continue and further its success! 

Key details for the Accounts Assistant Manager role:

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. An additional 4 hours is worked in week one of each month to help compile the management accounts with a ½ lieu day being accrued to be taken later in the month.

Location: During your training period, the role will be based in Head Office, in Clifton, for 5 days per week, Monday to Friday. Once training has been completed, this position will be hybrid-remote with scope for a few working-from-home days each week except week one of each month where you will be required to be in the office for all five days. 

Salary: Package of £31,250 per annum including OTE bonus of £3,000.  

What will you be doing as Accounts Assistant Manager?

Working closely with our Accounts Manager as her number two, you will be responsible for purchase ledger tasks and assisting with running the accounts department.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Supporting the Accounts Manager in the overall running of the department and driving it forward as a team
  • Be responsible for managing the accounts department to cover the manager's holiday
  • Holding 1-2-1 meetings with our small and dedicated team of three Accounts Executives and Assistants
  • Overseeing the purchase ledger and getting stuck in to ensure it runs smoothly and accurately. This includes downloading invoices and filing them correctly, using Microsoft Excel to compile batch headers for manager sign-off, working with the team to prepare and send payment runs on time, and sending remittances to suppliers via email.
  • Working with the team to prepare and check management accounts monthly by our deadline
  • Preparing and submitting Quarterly VAT returns and ensuring that all VAT that is recoverable is done so on a monthly basis.
  • Checking supplier statements and accounts to ensure that all invoices have been received and processed – following up where necessary.
  • Checking banking and collating revenue figures for our high-end co-working space, Square Works.
  • Overseeing the accuracy of energy invoices for the group to include liaising with unit managers and submitting readings via online accounts.
  • Producing the monthly Accounts team rota to ensure the phone, emails, and office are covered each day
  • Responding to colleague and supplier queries via phone and email
  • Maintaining discretion and confidentiality as required

Who are we looking for in our new Accounts Assistant Manager?

  • Be fun and personable – we take our work seriously but also have fun!

Candidates must be able to pick up new systems confidently. Some previous experience either supervising team members or showing some aptitude for leadership is essential. Strong numeracy skills and a head for numbers are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is highly desirable but not essential as long as you can demonstrate aptitude and the ability to learn. Previous accounts experience is not necessary as full training will be provided, with possible opportunities also for external training (e.g. AAT courses), however any basic accounts experience you can demonstrate will be a bonus.
